Places within a day’s drive from Northern California:
Fun, Variety, Beauty, Uniqueness

When a chance arises to go someplace memorable in Northern California, hundreds of unique and beautiful destinations are less than a day away. My family has had nine generations live in this fantastic part of the Sunshine State and has camped, hiked, fished, hunted, explored, Worked, Farmed, Gold Panned, Geocashed, Motorcycled, and been a part of the Northern California life. It’s who we are and what we love.

When residing in NorCal, you are two hours or less from the Ocean and Desert, Mountains, Rivers, Meadows, 10,000-year-old Petroglyphs, Breathtaking Lakes and Valleys, the tallest Redwoods in the world, active Volcanos, ancient sites of Native Americans, Ghost towns, Oceanside towns and cities with iconic landmarks, table-topped mountains covered with flowers, Historic Train and Gold Mining towns, museums, and educational resources. Suppose you are short on time and enjoy the relationship between man and nature or want to have a great time with your family. In that case, Northern California is one of the best places in the United States.

Since pursuing a career as a photographer, I have yet to be able to travel to many places I would like to. Still, the destinations are on my DayCation Bucket List and would be a great addition to any traveler seeking beauty, history, and smaller crowds. NorCal has smaller cities than Southern California is known for. However, the cities and towns from Sacramento northward are getting more populated as many people leave the southern part of the state for the change of pace up north. Sacramento International Airport can provide easy and quick travel to the state. Highway 1 runs along nearly the entire coast of California with breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean, stunning beaches, rock features, wildlife sanctuaries, lighthouses, and deep sea fishing. Highway 50 runs east to west from Ocean to the High Sierras, and Highway 80 spans most of Northern California over the Sierras and into Nevada.
